OUTDOOR OVEN BUILDING & FIRING WORKSHOPS
Dates CONFIRMED so far for 2013
Monday 1st April (Bank Holiday)
More to follow if you ask for them...watch this space !

These workshops will show you how to make your own outdoor cob oven using the simplest materials and methods so that you, family, friends, school, community or group can make your own delicious bread, pizzas, biscuits and cakes in the great outdoors. Outdoor cob ovens are simple, fun, and cheap to make, and even more fun to use to bake delicious bread, pizzas and the like. Learn about what materials you need (cob is a mix of clay and straw); the importance of the right design; choosing a good space; safety considerations; preparing the right wood for firing; using the ash; allowing time to get the best from your oven; ongoing care and maintenance; and, of course, how to get the best baking. The workshop will be led by Niall Wildwoode, who runs a smallholding at Moondawn in the Eden Valley, and has years of experience of sustainable living, living lightly off the land and making the best of use of natural resources.

Maximum of 4 people per workshop. Workshops cost £75, start at 10am and finish at teatime and include morning coffee, and lunch. Ovenbuilding takes place outside, so bring all-weather gear !
